For readers

Finding a book

Search and browse your library's shelves from the Home and Search tabs.

Open your library at your-library.bshelf.app. Along the bottom you’ll find four tabs: Home, Search, Discover, and Account. Finding a book starts with the first two.

Home

Home greets you with “Find your next read,” and a search box. Below it are shelves you can swipe through, like New arrivals and Most borrowed. Tap any cover to open the book.

The reader app Home screen with a search box and swipeable shelves of book covers
Home. Swipe the shelves, or tap the search box to look for something specific.

Tap Search, or the box on Home, and start typing a title, author, or subject. Results appear as you type, and the search forgives small typos, so you don’t have to spell everything perfectly.

If your library has subjects set up, filter chips appear above the results. Tap All to see everything, or tap a subject to narrow down. Tap it again to clear it.

Each result shows the cover, the title and author, and whether it’s available right now. Tap a cover to open the book’s page, where you can borrow or reserve it (see Borrowing, holds & renewals).

When there’s no match

If nothing comes up, you’ll see “No matches.” Try fewer words. If the library simply doesn’t have the book, you can ask them to get it; see Requesting a book.
