Getting started

Signing in

How staff and readers sign in, and what to do if you're on the wrong address.

Staff and readers sign in to the same library from two slightly different addresses. Both use the short name (slug) your library was set up with.

Staff

Open your-library.bshelf.app/staff and sign in with your email and password. You’ll land on the Catalog tab.

If you open /staff and see a message that the console “lives at your-library.bshelf.app/staff,” you’re on the wrong address. Add your library’s slug to the front, for example riverside.bshelf.app/staff, and try again.

Readers

Readers open your-library.bshelf.app and tap the account icon, or go straight to the Account tab. From there they can:

  • Sign in with an email or a library card number, plus a password.
  • Create an account with a name, email, and a password of at least eight characters, if your library allows readers to register themselves.

Forgotten passwords and new staff accounts

Staff accounts are created by an admin in your library. If you can’t sign in, ask whoever set up the library to check your account or reset your password.

Readers who forget a password can ask a librarian, who can look them up under Members and help.
